Montreal Open 2005
2005 Montreal Open: Club Mirabel Pointe Claire, Thanks-you to all the participants of the 2005 Montreal Open at Mirabel Pointe Claire, October 28th to October 30th. Competitors travelled from Halifax , Dartmouth , and Quebec City to play this year. As the first provincial tournament of the season we needed to kick start our competitive juices. In the Men’s A Final Ben Uliana, Hudson Racquet Club and Club Mirabel Pro, claimed victory over Benard Reid, Assistant pro at Dartmouth , 3-0. While Chris Palmer, CDL, defeat Sherif Luka, from McGill University in the Men’s B Final. The Men’s C Final was taken by YMCA Pointe Claire’s Junior athlete Matt Aussel over Sylvain Charboneau representing Sani Sport Brossard. While Men’s D winner, Denis Belanger, CDL, thumped his opponents of all ages, concluding in the finals with Wayne Baldo, Goodlife Fitness. The Women’s A Draw saw Anne Christine Lajoie, MAA take the first title of the year. In the Women’s C Andrea Fitzpatrick defeated all her opponents. A one year break from squash was not enough to slow Andrea during the tournament. We thank Black Knight for their support of the Montreal Open Squash Tournament, and the fabulous effort of Squash Quebec Referees, who graciously helped referee the majority of matches during the weekend. I’m looking forward to the next event! Benjamin Uliana Results

Ghislain Lessard. Results

The 2000/01 Squash season opened with a nick as more than 90 people turned out to play in the Montréal Open held at club Mirabel from October 20-22. With seven events and over 140 matches the tournament was as busy as it was enjoyable. Loads of new faces and some familiar faces appeared for the second Montréal Open that I have run, making the name game interesting to say the least. The Women’s Open saw a repeat final between Fiona Aussel from Club West Island and Anne-Christine Lajoie from Club Mirabel. Fiona won the match in four tough sets 4/9 9/5 9/4 9/5. In the Men's Open, Mirabel's Sherif Khalil and I won through a strong field of 14 players to meet in the final. Khalil, tournament number two seed and Québec number eleven (and my boss), varied the pace and volleyed well. Khalil the eventual loser in four sets - I still have the same pay check!! The Men’s C and D draws attracted over 20 players each. This made for some tough matches and many unseeded players making it through to the finals. The Men’s C was won by Ray Proudlock (Club West Island) and the Men’s D by Aniroudh Devalia. I would like to thank all participants and volunteers and hope to see everyone during the season supporting Squash in Quebec. Darren Barclay. Results
