2007 CDL Junior Open
The
2007 Cote De Liesse Junior Open was held on Saturday, January 13th. The
tournament was a great success, hosting 27 players from the greater Montreal
area and Quebec.
In the Girls U13 round-robin, Shannon Conway of Hudson Racquet Club went undefeated, while Cassidy Smith, also of Hudson Racquet Club, was a close second dropping her only match to Conway. In the Boys U13 round-robin, Sebastien Boudreau was the undefeated one. Sebastien held his winning streak beating David Baillargeon of Club Entrain in the final. Baillargeon too was undefeated until the final match-up. Mathieu Diab of Hudson Racquet Club took third place in the category. The largest draw in the event was a combined category of Boys and Girls U15 and U17. 15 year old Shawn Filion of Club CDL came out on top of this division, helping him to regain a far more accurate ranking in the top 13 provincially. Filion’s opponent in the final was the young and impressive Faroukh Sarmad. 12 year old Sarmad of Club Atwater showed great skill throughout the tournament, but could not stop the tenacious Filion in the final. The rest of the finial placements in this division were: 3. Chris Defour (HUDSON) Club CDL took great pleasure in hosting the young Quebec talents and looks forward to hosting bigger and better junior events in the future. |
