Black Knight Junior #3 tournament had the biggest turnout this year with 36 players competing at the Atwater club. Consolation A was won by Josh Renaud over Sebastien Boudreau 3-1 while consolation B was won by 13-year old Patrick Séguin-Morin over Cedric Coulombe. Cedric’s age advantage was no match against Patrick who, despite being much younger, made it up with training and experience. Ontario player Franco Patry won the consolation A over Olivia Tory 3-2 while Tommy Scott showed lots of promise as future Squash player winning against Patrick McLay in the consolation B by a score of 3-0. The U17/U15 combined draw included players from U17, U15, and U13 also from both genders. It was apparent that Daniel McLay and Sebastien Boucley had been training hard to make their way to the top of this draw. Both players met in the final. Boucley used his speed and agility, likely developed through his soccer experience, to take the match from Daniel 3-0. Benjamin Brassard lost to Boucley in the semis and defaulted against James Kierans in the 3/4 match. James gains in the rankings.
There were also noticeable mentions in this category. Dominic Wren (King Dom, Calvin’s brother) won the consolation B 3-1 against a very young but very talented and promising Cyrus Sarmad (age 7). Gabrielle Renaud (Josh’s younger sister) showed extremely good racket control, control of the T, and confidence in her skills to take 3rd place against Ben Lalonde by a score of 3-1. Mario Morin |

2007 Atwater Junior Squash Tournament
The Atwater Junior Open was played on November 17th and Club Atwater had a reasonably good turnout from Montreal juniors and a hand full of out of towners. Quebec’s number 1 under 19 boy’s player Maxym Leclair proved far too strong in the boys under 19 draw but it was great to see Maxym support the event and give some of the other Quebec juniors a go at him. Maxym beat Ken Filgiano 3/0 in the final. Lindsay Bovaird again proved to be Brigitte Tousignant nemesis winning the under 19 girls 3/0. Jesse Hornstein-Goldberg beat Thomas Sinclair 3/0 to win the under 17 boys and Jesse also competed in the under 19 boys finishing 6th after playing a total of 6 matches on the Saturday. The boys under 15 title went to Chris Defour who proved too strong for Sebastien Boudreau in the semi finals and then Farokh Sarmad who put up a gallant fight before also losing in 3 games. Dominique Smith won the girls under 15 division with David Baillargeon from Quebec City and Marcia Filgiano winning their under 13 divisions. Glen Wilson |

The Atwater Junior Open was held on Saturday Nov 18th and the event held major significance on selecting the Quebec Team for the Winter Canada Games. The event attracted top players from greater Montreal as well as Quebec City, Hull and Ottawa. On this weekend there were 5 category's BU19, BU15 & BU13 and GU17 and GU15 with a total of 44 players. The most significant category's were the BU19 and GU17 which would determine the final team placing. In the girls section Lindsay Bovaird (Atwater Club) and Bridgette Tousignant (Hudson Racquet Club) dominated the field and put on a great 5 set final. Lindsay won the final game 9- 4 with the difference being her superb court coverage. On the boy's side U19's again produced the top 2 dominant players in Quebec and a great 5 set battle was had. In the end the more composed and patient play being Max Leclair was the difference. The quality of squash displayed in this match was impressive for such young players. On the girls side the U13 was a round robin with 6 players in the field. Olivia Tory was too strong in this section and won handily without dropping a set. Once again it was a great day for junior squash and we look forward to next years event.

2000 Atwater Junior Squash Tournament (MBSC Junior Open)
|
On Saturday, November 11, 2000, the Montreal Badminton & Squash Club hosted its annual MBSC Junior Open which attracted approximately 50 players from Quebec City and Montreal. (Unfortunately, the Ottawa juniors who have usually participated in this event were tied up in their own coaching clinic that day). All seemed to enjoy themselves and were well fed as usual at a buffet lunch. Many novice players got their first taste of the tournament scene and are looking forward to future competitions. Results

1998 Atwater Junior Squash Tournament (MBSC Junior Invitationnal)
Ghislain Lessard |
1997 Atwater Junior Squash Tournament (MBSC Junior Invitationnal)
Results
